Bagan - Kanpetlet - Mt. Victoria-Kanpetlet - Bagan

Join us on an intrepid adventure through lesser known Myanmar on this 4-day Mount Victoria Expedition, as we go in search of the rugged beauty of the Chin state. Begin your adventure when you leave behind the ancient wonders of Bagan and set off for Mt Victoria, also known as Khaw-nu-soum. The highest mountain in the Chin state rising 3,053 metres above sea level, the mountain is now protected by Nat Ma Taung National Park.

Travel by jeep safari to Kanpetlet, passing through diverse landscapes and soaking up the natural splendour of this magical country. Stop en-route to eat some typical fare and talk to the friendly locals before enjoying a famous Myanmar sunset over the Chin Mountains. The Chin state is one of the least developed areas within the country and is home to a number of diverse ethnic groups.

On the second day of this Myanmar tour you will embark on a trek to the top of the peak, surrounded by sub tropical scenery and home to a host of endemic species -- Mt Victoria promises an intrepid climb. En-route encounter natural and native orchids, rare species of birds and traditional ways of life in Chin State. Enjoy lunch at the top of the peak amid sprawling views of the Chin state, before some exploration and a leisurely stroll back down to your home for the night in the house of a local Aye village.

Spend a day exploring the homes of the different ethnic groups of the region from the tattooed faced Chin women to the brightly coloured costumes of the Kyardo.

On the final day of this Burma Tour explore the Mindut market, where traders from surrounding villages gather daily to buy and sell their wares before transferring back to Bagan and your hotel.

Day 1 - Bagan - Kanpetlet (L,D)

Wellcome to Myanmar, Pick up from Nyaung U Airport or your hotel, your Chin exploration begins with jeep safari to Kanpetlet. (7 hours drive) One can enjoy natural beauty and a friendly atmosphere along the way, stopping for lunch at Kazunma Village, approx. 3 hours drive and half way to Kanpetlet. After lunch, resume your scenic journey to Kanpetlet, en-route enjoy the beautiful sunset over Chin Mountains at Saw.

Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. Enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.

Dinner and overnight Mountain Oasis guesthouse or similar.

Day 2 - Kanpetlet - Trek Mt. Victoria - Aye Village (B,L,D)

After breakfast, start your unforgettable and fantastic trek to the peak of Mt. Victoria with a short drive to the base camp from Kanpatlet. (Approx. 2 hours drive) Trekking to the Peak of Mt. Victoria will give you opportunity to learn about several species of Oak & temperate tree species, natural & native orchids, rare species of birds and traditional ways of life in Chin State.

Celebrate your successful exploration to the Peak of Mt. Victoria by enjoying your lunch and drink at the peak. (3 hours trek).

Then, sightseeing around the peak and leisurely trek down to the base camp where your car awaits

Tonight experience an overnight at a local homestay in one of the Chin Villages.

Dinner and overnight homestay in Aye Village.

Day 3 - Aye Village Trek - Kyardo Village - Lote Pe Village (B,L,D)

Your day starts with a two hour jeep trip to the start point of your trek. Traverse between ethnic hill tribe villages on foot where you will experience local customs and lifestyles. Be awed by the decorated faces of the Chin women and the traditional costumes of the Kyardo. From here trek one more hour to meet your jeep, for the return journey to your guesthouse.

Overnight in Mindut.

Day 4 - Mindut - Ponetaung Ponenyar - Bagan (B,L)

Spend time this morning exploring the Mindut market, where traders from surrounding villages gather daily to buy and sell their wares.

Then embark on the drive back to Bagan, passing through pine forests, hills, and the Ponetaung Ponenyar Mountain Range. Stop for photos along the way and tea breaks in small villages.

Arrive at Kyunchaung jetty early this evening for the final transfer by boat across to Bagan. You will then transfer to your Bagan hotel for check in.
