Set off for a pre-dawn hike up one of Java’s highest mountains for an unforgettable experience on this Sunrise at Mount Merapi day trip. The challenging 5-hour walk begins at midnight and upon reaching the summit, your hard work is rewarded as you enjoy a steaming cup of coffee as the sun rises over the spectacular landscapes.


PROGRAM DETAILS

Watching the sunrise over one of Java's highest mountains is an unforgettable experience. Situated at the border of Central Java and Jogjakarta, Mt Merapi is one of Indonesia's most active volcanoes.

You'll depart from your Jogjakarta hotel at 19.00 for the one hour drive to Selo Village, the starting point for your trek. Take an hour at the base to rest and prepare- a briefing on the route and safety information will be given by your local guides.

Then, around midnight, begin your climb to the summit. The trek takes around 5 hours and just before the sun rises, you will reach the top. Rest your legs and sit down to await the rising sun. As it emerges, you will be amazed at the spectacular landscapes and awe-inspiring views of the area.

After a light snack, water and coffee at the top, begin your descent to the base of Mt Merapi where your car is waiting to transfer you back to your Jogjakarta hotel. Return by midday.

Note : Lunch is not included but light snack, mineral water and coffee are provided.
